ALUMNI APPOINTMENTS AND RETIREMENTS 2010

ALUMNI  APPOINTMENTS  and  ALUMNI NEWS :

Min. Victor Cyrus Franklin begins his work at the General Commisison on Religion and Race in May 2010.

Rev. Edward Best retired during the North Georgia Annual Confernce in June.

Alumna Elonda Clay, a Graduate Woman of Color Scholar, is a Relgion and Science scholar at Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, where she is working on her doctorate degree.  She has been name a GreenFaith Fellow.

Rev. Marcus Dixon was appointed to Bentley Hill United Methodist church in Stockbridge, Georgia.

Rev. Kenneth Fisher an Elder in the Louisiana Annual Conference retired this year.  Rev. Fisher lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Rev. Betty Holland retired in the North Georgia Annual Conference.

Rev. Arundel Hope was appointed to Laster Chapel United Methodist Church in the North Georgia Annual Conference.

Rev. Jacquelyn Johnson has been appointed to Trinity United Methodist Church in Stockbridge, Georgia.

Rev. Ron Johnson was appointed to the Barnesville Parish in The North Georgia Annual Conference.

Rev. Candace Lewis has been selected to serve as a Church Strategist in the new Path 1, Congregational Development Program in Nashville, TN.  Rev. Lewis is the Founding Pastor of New Life Community Church in Jacksonville, FLorida.

Minister Alan Jackson , class of 2009, and his wife Dorie were appointed to The Little Chapel United Methodist Church in Ocala, Florida.

Rev. Hulon Kemp was appointed to the Forsyth Parish in the North Georgia Conference.

Rev. Dr. Pamela Lightsey has been named Associate Vice-President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois.  Rev. Dr. Lightsey also pastored Southlawn UMC in Chicago before coming Dean of Students in 2007 at Garrett.

Rev. Jeffery O'Neal was appointed to Trinity United Methodist Church in Austell, Georgia.

Rev. Rex Smith was appointed Pastor of Zebulon Parish in the North Georgia Annual Conference.

Rev. Dianne Spruill was appointed to Ariel Bowen United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.

Rev. Clarence Thrower was appointed to St. Paul United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Georgia.

Rev. Bridgette Young will take the helm as Associate General Secretary for Campus Ministry for The United Methodist Church, General Board of Higher Education and Ministry in Nashville, TN.  Rev. Young previously served as Associated Dean of Chapel and Religious Life at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

Rev. Dr. Kanunu Busambwa, was ordained an Elder in the North Alabama Annual Conference in June.

Rev. Kenneth Fisher, Senior Pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana - will retire after 44 years in the ministry in the Louisiana Annual Conference. 

Dr. Willie Henry an Elder in the Louisiana Conference retired this annual conference year.

Bishop James Swanson was hospitalized for emergency surgery in May and is home recuperating from his surgery.  Get well wishes maybe sent to:  Bishop James E. Swanson, Sr., Holston Annual Conference, P.O. Box 850, Alcoa, TN 37701-0850.

Rev. J. LaVon Kincaid of Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference, was successful in a Primary Election for City Council in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania on May 19th, 2009.

Rev. Darlene A. Moore, Senior Pastor of Camphor Memorial UMC Baton Rouge, LA was invited to help write the Vacation Bible School formation for both -2009.  this year's Theme was "On The Move:  God's Grace From Place to Place.  Rev. Marilyn Thornton of Nashville, TN is the Lead Editor of African American Resources an dDr. Safiyah Fosua, also fo Nashville is the Contributors of the prayers.  Dr. S. Fosua is the Director of Invitational Preaching Ministries of The General Board of Discipleship.  Also Cee Cee Winans endorsed this years VBS.

Rev. Sharon A. White, has been appointed Senior Pastor of New Hope United Methodist Church in Anderson, Indiana.

Rev. Bridgette D. Young will begin her tenure at General Assistant Secretary in Campus Ministry at the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry in Nashville, TN in July, 2009. 

Rev. Harold D. Lewis wll be working in the area of New Congregational Church Development Director in the Florida Annual Conference.  Rev. Lewis formerly pastored in Washington, D.C..

Rev. Joseph Roberson has been appointed a District Superintendent to the Statesboro District in the South Georgia Annual Conference.

Rev. Gigi Warren, class of 2009, was appointed Associate Pastor at Ben Hill United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
